Many organizations spend over 50% of their income on buying goods, services and works. Doing this well can save money, create value, and contribute significantly to overall business performance and profitability. Strategic Procurement Management is the discipline that drives this excellence and when properly applied within an organization, ensures that external spend is managed well, the right suppliers are selected, contracts are successfully managed, and bills are paid on time.
This two-day intensive workshop equips delegates with the skills needed to carry out Strategic Procurement Management. It emphazises the need for good business alignment and a key awareness of how much money is spent on what with which suppliers, and covers the key principles of category management, strategic sourcing, contract management and supplier management. It also looks at the leadership, organization, processes, and tools needed to support this, and covers key soft skills such as communication and stakeholder management. The social and environmental implications of procurement are also carefully considered and the critical need for sustainable procurement is stressed.
Case studies and practical exercises are used to help cement learning. Questioning is encouraged, and there will be plenty of discussion allowing delegates to share their own experiences, thoughts, and ideas. Each delegate will receive full course notes and additional materials, as well as complete the workshop armed with tried and tested ways to implement Strategic Procurement Management within their own organization.
